This year the snow fell In the middle of autumn in Moscow! The New year holiday will come soon! Our shop SovietDacha on Etsy.com started to sell Christmas decorations and greeting cards.
Soviet Christmas decorations were carefully kept in my family. Every year we decorate the Christmas tree in retro style with old Soviet ornaments. There is a small Christmas tree with retro ornaments stays in our Museum all the year around.
And now we can offer some of them to you, but some decorations we will never sell, leaving them as the memory of past holidays. We also have a large collection of postcards. Among them are very old cards, for example, a set of postcards of the 1969 with Ded Moroz (Russian Santa Claus) in a sleigh pulled by horses.
Russian Santa Claus always comes to children with gifts and his granddaughter Snegurochka. His wagon is pulled by horses, reindeer, like the American Santa. Ded Moroz brings a sack of gifts and distributes them to children.
Snegurochka usually visit children before the New year. The children read poems, sing songs, dance and get their gift for it. Usually Ded Moroz asks:
- How you behaved this year?
The child is responsible:
- Very well -and receives a gift.
We have postcards by a very famous Soviet artist Vladimir Zarubin. This is a very cute and colorful postcards. There are nice Soviet bunnies, bears and other characters.
We love our past and excited to share with you.
