At first we chose a location for our pond in spot that gets mixed sun and shade, since this environment allows plants to grow and keeps algae at bay.
We know that there are no any gas or electric lines and other important constructions. This place is in front of old house under the apple tree. But we didn’t think about the leaves. And when the pond was ready it was full of apple leaves and small green apples.
Our Dacha is more than 60 years old. Here grows a lot of trees, herbs and other plants. But we never tried to make ponds in the garden! And now we decided to design the place near old house with a small handmade pond.
We wanted to built the pond like a natural part of the landscape in the garden.
We bought a preformed pond shape at the nearest garden store. We chose a form like a bean with several levels. It is not big, so we are not going to fill it with fish or any other animals.
At first we painted the form contour on the earth and after that we dig it level by level.
We dug out a hole slightly larger than the shape for the pond.
We verified the compliance of the our pit with the plastic form. The hole was the right size and the shape lay in it very straight.
After that we put on the bottom of the pit the special fabric to hold the sand separately of the ground.
Filled the hole with sand and compacted sand with water.
We put the form in the sand, lined by level. We started to fill the form with water and added sand on the sides around the form.
The shape with water is firmly entrenched in the sand.
After that, we have adorned the future coast of the pond with natural stones and planted the plants.
The pond turned out beautiful. Frogs and insects are also fond of our pond.
Now it's filled with apple leaves, tadpoles, and various worms.
However, from afar, the pond looks great and beautifies the Old Soviet Dacha with modern design
